Term 1 2025. "MAC" TEAMS SAILING. Wednesdays. 330-630pm

"3:30pm" = please get boats rigged and be changed and ready to sail by 4pm

Wednesday Teams Sailing Training with coach Lily has become and institution. But you need to earn your stripes and get invited to join this group as places are limited and the group needs a high level of skill to train in almost any weather. 

You'll go through some serious skills and tactics training! All teams sailors have the option to go to the "regional" comp each year, usually in March. This year its 19-23 March in Picton. Dates include travel.

For the top 6 or 7 sailors maybe you'll make the MAC nationals team for a week long April comp as well - and continue our upward trend against the best schools in the country. (Wanaka Yacht Club does all the training but teams must enter external comps as a school)

Because Lily gives so much, each session is a decent length and has a weekly focus. Training continues for the whole school term except where dates conflict with Teams regattas.

A minimum standard is required to join this group. No need to ask if your an existing MAC team sailor but if you're new to the group, please check with Lily Boulton or Roger before booking.

This year we are running a second "pre-Mac" group concurrently with Lily. When conditions and skills align the groups will work together. 

Want to get involved more? - turn up on Sundays each week and earn your place! Sundays are fun. We pick teams each week so you can turn up alone if you like. Meet at 1pm , racing by 2, packed up by 430. Once you've paid for this group, Sundays are included. Last year some MAC sailors experienced over 200 races by following this route and ascended to top national level sailors.
