Holiday Camp Toru . Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 January 2024 10am to 5pm

For absolute beginners aged 9 or older (or a mature 8, "almost 9"! )

This is your best chance to learn to sail with new friends at the same age and stage. No previous experience is assumed for this course! Being right in the middle of summer you have the best chance of suitable warmth and weather. Expect a bit of structure to the learning, but also heaps of fun, games, breaks and adventures.

You will need to do a quick "Swimming" test on the first day for this one but we will make this as cunningly disguised as fun as possible. Dressed in your wetsuit and lifejacket, and slightly out of your depth you simply have to make it 50m at any speed, stopping to admire the view as many times as you like.  Its just as much about the ability to relax when you fall in as it is about swimming and we want to normalize that experience for when capsizes occur.  Our assistant coaches will be alongside,  as well as your new student team mates.

We provide bouyancy devices and helmets. Please come sunscreened with a packed lunch, wetsuit, windproof jacket, towel and change of clothes!
