Woman-only Learn-to-Sail 10am-5pm 24 and 25 February 2024

This 2 day course will cover the Learn-to-Sail (LTS) 1 syllabus, starting from complete beginner level.  You'll most likely be in boats with 2 or more on board and experience a mix of practical on-the-water tuition and some quality classroom time. 

You should really have fun on this course and be proud of just how far you've come! Typically you'll come away from it being able to sail wherever you want to go in sensible wind strength but still with a few questions and a bit perhapsn a bit more experience required to go off on your own. 

Should you wish to hone your skills further, it is normally recommend that you complete a "LTS 2" course, also 2 days in duration. Head coach Angus can arrange such a course for you at a mutually convenient time. Please e mail learn@wanakayachtclub.co.nz to discuss date options.  Weekday term time days are encouraged for these bespoke extra courses, as they tie in well with other club activities.

You'll likely be learning to sail in "dinghies" such as the RS Quest in the picture above.  Dinghy sailing involves learning all about the effect of weight distribution on a boat and setting sails well and is a great foundation for every other type of boat that might follow.

We provide bouyancy aids. Please bring sunscreen, windproof gear, towel, change of clothes, packed lunch and preferrably a wetsuit to wear underneath.
